Long-standing TMR faves Squid announced their hotly-anticipated debut album Bright Green Field via Warp Records yesterday. Throwing down the gauntlet with its 8-and-a-half minute mission statement 'Narrator', the immersive first taste of the seemingly unstoppable quintet's new material features guest vocals by the brilliant Martha Skye Murphy (who's previously collaborated with the likes of Nick Cave). Committing to their experimental disposition and penchant for explorative krautrock, the frankly massive outro sounds similar to Dan Carey (who produced the record)'s own band Scottibrains in a k-hole; compiling layer upon layer of jagged guitars, unruly synthesizers and an unrelenting rhythm section against Sky Murphy's haunting screams, which echo Yoko Ono at points.
